Apple announced an exciting update to its Apple Sports app, unveiling comprehensive tennis coverage just in time for the Wimbledon championships and introducing a freshly redesigned home screen. The announcement, made Wednesday, detailed new capabilities including real-time tracking of live tennis scores, point-by-point updates, and detailed progress reporting from the beginning rounds through championship finals for both men’s and women’s singles in major Grand Slam and 1000-level tournaments.
The redesigned home screen delivers an enhanced user experience by grouping events and matchups according to leagues, prioritized based on personal favorites selected by users. This update ensures that preferred teams and leagues always appear at the top of users’ feeds, offering quick and easy access to recent scores, events, and news updates.
Initially launched in February 2024, the Apple Sports app previously expanded its offerings in August last year with features for football scores and Live Activities. It is currently available to sports enthusiasts in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Besides tennis, the application already encompasses extensive sports coverage, including major leagues and competitions such as the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, Serie A, LaLiga, Ligue 1, MLS, NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA football and basketball, WNBA, and many more popular sports events globally.
This latest update underscores Apple’s growing presence in the competitive arena of sports-related applications, meeting increased demand from users looking for real-time, personalized sports content on their devices.
