Democratic National Committee Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta has outlined what he believes is a winning strategy for Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections.
In a conversation on MSNBC, Kenyatta distilled the party’s approach into three key words: “Make life better.”
Criticizing President Donald Trump, Kenyatta asserted that in his initial months in office, Trump has focused primarily on enriching himself and his wealthy supporters, leaving ordinary Americans struggling. “He’s made life worse and more miserable for everyday people,” Kenyatta stated.
Kenyatta emphasized that Democrats should frame their campaign message explicitly around enhancing quality of life across diverse demographics. This means directly addressing the concerns of seniors anxious about potential Social Security cuts and working-class individuals who desperately need increased wages.
Kenyatta, who also serves as a Pennsylvania state representative, insisted that Democrats can successfully combine this positive messaging with tough opposition to Trump’s policies. “We must clearly explain that we can’t afford to provide massive tax breaks for billionaires at the expense of essential programs that everyday Americans depend on. By doing that, we’re showing voters we stand definitively on their side,” he explained.
