Far-right representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has launched a controversial firearm giveaway to commemorate the year leading up to America’s 250th anniversary. Greene announced the fundraiser featuring an FN M249S PARA, describing it as one of her favorite weapons. In a provocative video shared widely on social media, the outspoken congresswoman reinforced her image as a fierce proponent of gun rights.
“America is the greatest country in the world, and I fight the nasty ‘America-last’ Democrats in Washington to keep it that way,” Greene stated, echoing common MAGA rallying points. She continued by explicitly opposing gun control measures, open borders, government spending priorities, and trans rights initiatives, particularly transgender inclusion in women’s sports.
With each assertion, Greene dramatically appeared to discharge a round from the firearm, visually underscoring her points before concluding: “Why enter to win this gun? Because in America, you can.”
Her post directed supporters to a conservative political fundraising site, which described the featured weapon as having a short barrel and collapsible buttstock designed specifically for rapid, close-quarters combat operations. The firearm, valued at over $10,000, will be awarded to one winner from a group of donors; the contest closes on September 15.
This is not the first time Greene has combined provocative firearm-related publicity with politics. In 2022, she drew criticism for publicly inviting a supporter to hunt feral hogs in Texas with her, controversially comparing the elusive animals to Democrats.
