MAGA influencer Michael Flynn Jr. appeared eager recently to provoke social media with his version of greeting Pride Month. Flynn, the son of former National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, shared a doctored clip from the popular sitcom “Parks and Recreation,” presenting the show’s beloved libertarian-leaning character, Ron Swanson, tossing a Pride flag into a dumpster.
Flynn Jr., known for voicing outspoken political opinions online, edited a scene from the show’s fourth season—originally depicting Swanson throwing away a computer—to replace it instead with a colorful Pride flag. “Good morning and Happy Sunday!” Flynn wrote alongside his edited clip. “No quotes today. Just wanted to post how I feel about ‘pride’ month.”
However, Nick Offerman, the actor known for playing Ron Swanson, swiftly intervened on social media to challenge Flynn Jr.’s basic misunderstanding of his character. Offerman, whose own views differ considerably from the fictional Swanson’s stoic conservatism, reminded Flynn that “Ron was best man at a gay wedding you dumb fuck,” referring explicitly to the sitcom’s series finale in which Swanson proudly participated as best man during the wedding ceremony of his barber, Typhoon, and his partner Craig.
This pointed correction from Offerman resonated widely, prompting swift reactions across social media from amused and supportive fans. Many praised the actor for defending not only his character’s inherent decency and open-mindedness but also providing a strong rebuke to Flynn’s reposting of misinformed content.
