“Unveiling the Secret Weapon: How a New Digital Platform Could Revolutionize American Manufacturing”

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) introduced a new digital platform designed to assist small businesses in connecting directly with domestic suppliers and manufacturers, significantly reducing their dependence on foreign supply chains.

Officially launched on May 20, 2025, the Make Onshoring Great Again Portal provides entrepreneurs and small firms access to an extensive database featuring over a million verified U.S.-based producers and manufacturers. The free portal aims to encourage companies to shift to American-made components and materials, supporting the broader federal initiative of strengthening U.S. supply chains and fostering domestic production capabilities.

SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler underscored the importance of this initiative, explaining, “The SBA is proud to support President Donald J. Trump’s mission to restore America’s economic resurgence by empowering small businesses with the resources necessary to accelerate the return of Made in America. Our Make Onshoring Great Again Portal creates a direct pathway for job creators to connect with more than one million American suppliers, substituting overseas dependencies with reliable domestic options. This marks a significant step in our steadfast commitment to revitalizing America’s industries and safeguarding our economic future.”

The portal was developed in concert with private-sector sponsors who provided direct access to extensive, verified databases of domestic suppliers. Its primary goal is to shield smaller American companies from foreign supply chain disruptions, enhance quality control standards, and significantly reduce procurement lead times.

Aligned with broader administration objectives, the tool supports the ongoing objectives of reshoring U.S. production, bolstering domestic manufacturing, and reducing American economic vulnerability to external pressures—particularly from strategic adversaries like China. According to agency statements, the portal is explicitly designed to diminish national dependence on foreign supply chains, including those originating from China and controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.

This new tool builds upon previous components of the SBA’s wider initiative—the Made in America Manufacturing Initiative—which began earlier this year. Among its related actions, the SBA has taken significant steps, including enhancing access to financial capital for manufacturers, promoting workforce development and training programs, and identifying opportunities to reduce regulatory burdens on small businesses—cutting approximately $100 billion in impactful rules.

Additionally, the SBA has voiced strong support for recent bipartisan legislation proposing a doubling of the current SBA loan cap for manufacturing businesses, framing this as another key element in revitalizing America’s industrial leadership and economic competitiveness.

Through the launch of this new onshoring platform, the SBA expects to provide practical, actionable tools enabling small businesses to shift toward domestic producers and U.S.-based supply chains. Administration officials stress that the portal represents just one aspect of a broader strategy directed toward fostering American entrepreneurship, stimulating local economies, and reinforcing national economic sovereignty.
